Do You Consider Using Intuition
When Planning a Future Event?

In May 2007 the Center for Spirituality & Healing and The Life Science Foundation will co-sponsor an invitation only Symposium entitled Ways of Knowing: Intuition’s Role in Health and Healing. Participants are active in Health Care throughout the USA and the world. Some of the goals of the Symposium are to:  (1) provide a safe place for a conversation about intuition’s role in health and healing, (2) explore the language for communicating about these experiences, and (3) review the research which has been done on the topic. As the Symposium gets closer, more information will be available.

Throughout history intuition has been known for its visionary contribution to strategic planning. This Symposium is a living example of why it is helpful to consider using intuition when you are planning a future event. Throughout 2005 the Life Science Foundation sponsored a Conversations about Intuition Series. At the final Fall meeting, participants formed teams and were asked to go into the future, focus on the contents of a possible conference on "complementary ways of knowing," and ask themselves:

  • What is the purpose of the conference?
  • Who is the audience?
  • What presentations will be given?

During the discussions, group activities were designed to subtly evoke intuition, collective knowledge, and wisdom. It is important to know that intuition’s imaginative creative power can be accessed in subtle, ordinary ways. After the teams worked together for an hour, they presented the following recommendations which are important input on the design of the 2007 Symposium.

It was felt that the proposed conference should:

  • draw both local and international participation;
  • address the connection between the academic/intellectual and personal;
  • explore the connection between mind, body, and spirit;
  • establish the basis for an ongoing learning community.

Conclusions regarding the conference atmosphere were that it should:

  • promote a space where intuition is acknowledged and enhanced;
  • help participants suspend worry and fear of the future;
  • encourage personal links;
  • allow integration of emotional and intellectual functions.

The Life Science Foundation expresses its gratitude to those who participated in the 2005 Conversations about Intuition Series
